Dr Susan McLaughlin

MBChB (hons), MRCP (Edin), MICGP, LLM (Med Law), DRCOG, FPC, Dmsk, Cert Diabetes.

Following graduation from Leeds University in 2002, she spent several years gaining experience in hospital medicine in Yorkshire as well as obtaining Membership of the Royal College of Physicians and a Masters in Medical Law from Cardiff University. She specialised in respiratory medicine which led to an interest in asthma and COPD in the community. Dr McLaughlin came to Ireland in 2006 and completed her GP training in Cork after spending time in ophthalmology, psychiatry, paediatrics and at Cork University Maternity Hospital. She is Member of the Irish College of General Practice and has been involved in several committees through the College.

Susan has a keen interest women's health and is able to offer all methods of contraception including insertion of both hormonal and copper coils. She is committed to holistic management of women's health from fertility and gynaecology issues, pregnancy and menopause. She is a member of the British Menopause Society.

Having a keen interest in sports led her to apply this to everyday practice by completing a diploma in musculoskeletal medicine and regularly performing joint injections.

She has an interest in acne management and is able to prescribe and monitor roaccutane.

Dr Sarah Hough

Dr Sarah Hough graduated from Hull York Medical School in 2009. She completed her foundation training in Hull, and spent some time doing research in medical education as well as undergraduate teaching and curriculum development. Following this she completed her GP training in Nottingham in 2014 before moving to Ireland.

She is a member of WPATH (World professional Assocation of Trangender Health) and is experienced in supporting patients in all stages of transitioning. Sarah provides PREP prescriptions and assessment and is registered to provide scripts that are reimbursable.

Dr. Sarah has an keen interest in Womens Health and fertility and is a member of the British Menopause Society. She also carries out Implanon removals and insertions.

Dr David Staunton

MB BAO, BCh MSc (Epidemiology) LL LLM

Dr Staunton graduated from University College Cork in 1996 and completed his postgraduate training in the UK before working as a GP there. He recently spent several years in India, where he worked in Public Health research, before returning to cork in 2021.

Dr Alice O’Neill

After graduating from The University of the Free State in South Africa in 2015, Dr Alice O’Neill spent 3 years working in various departments in urban and rural South Africa before moving to Ireland in 2019. She gained further experience in A+E, maternity and paediatrics before graduating from the Cork GP scheme in 2025. She is a Member of the Irish College of General Practitioners.

She has a special interest in allergies having obtained her Masters in Allergies and Clinical Immunology from UCC in 2025 and is a member of the European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology and Irish Society of Immunology. She is part of the paediatric allergy team in Cork University Hospital and is heavily involved in research in this field.

She also has an interest in Women’s health as is able to provide various methods of contraception and maternity care.

Orla Dorgan RGN

Dip. Adult Nursing, BSc Nursing Studies

Orla comes to the practice with 12 years Nursing experience. After completing her nurse training in London, she worked in the Coronary Care and High Dependency Unit in the Whittington Hospital. She travelled to Australia and worked in various areas of Nursing, including working in a busy private hospital as Acting Nurse Unit Manager. She has also travelled to Guatemala for a time, where she volunteered as a nurse in a primitive community hospital.

After returning back to Ireland, Orla has gained valuable experience working as a cardiac and respiratory Nurse Advisor, which has led her into Practice Nursing.

She has experience in setting up new Nurse Services within her roles as Nurse Advisor and as a Practice Nurse. Orla is an experienced practice nurse and has completed many courses, including Cervical smeartaking, Spirometry and Nursing the Individual with Diabetes. She also has had experience as an Instructor teaching Adult and Paediatric BLS (Basic Life Support).

Orla has an interest in Women's Health, Immunisations and Health Promotion.

Orla is also a qualified and well respected Lactation Consultant which she does on her days that she is not working in the practice. More details of this can be found on her website www.lactationtalk.com.

Administration Team

The administration staff are made of the dedicated empathetic team of Hazel Charrington, Tara Hearne, Lisa McCarthy, Denise and Trish. As well as making appointments and taking requests for repeat prescriptions they are responsible the smooth running of the surgery. They have a wealth of experience between them and able to answer and help with most queries. All information is treated in the strictest confidence
